At the May 14 Rotary meeting we were honored to present the Student of the Month award to Marian Blanks.  Nick Parsons, her World History and Theatre teacher said, "Marian is one of the most valuable people I have ever met."
Marian is the oldest of four children in her family and she has three younger brothers.  When Marian started at Cedaredge High School she had to transition after living in Mozambique for six years. Her family served as missionaries and she attended a private Christian school where she learned to speak fluent Portuguese.  Her favorite class is theatre and her best sport is climbing. She was on CHS's first climbing team and they went to State their first year.
When asked what advice she would give to upcoming seniors, she said, "Don't forget to enjoy high school.  Have fun and be comfortable in your own skin."  Marian will be attending Lancaster Bible College in Pennsylvania next year and her goal is to become a teacher and return to our community.  Marian won several scholarships, including a $1000 Rotary Scholarship.
