At the May 21 Rotary meeting we were honored to hear about
AliceMarie Slaven-Emond's experiences as a medical missionary in Haiti.  AliceMarie is a Family Nurse Practictioner with the Delta Health and Wellness Center.
She has made 10 trips to the Lutheran Missouri Synod Children's Home (Home of the Lambs of God) where she holds open aire primary care clinics. She told many stories about the poverty and the lack of medical care in Haiti.  There is a Rotary Club in Ouanaminthe Haiti that has provided water pumps in the past through Rotary International grants.  She encouraged our club to think about a possible grant to help with repairing the water pumps  and also to help with the cost of transporting supplies or providing educational scholarships for post high school education.  The cost to ship supplies is more than $600. Our club could partner with other clubs in Delta County to support AliceMarie's work in Haiti.
